The Egyptian Gods—Obelisk, Ra, and Sliferare powerful monsters with fierce effects. However, they typically require three tributes to be Normal Summoned and are destroyed at the End Phase if Special Summoned (with Ra unable to be Special Summoned at all), making them difficult to use in competitive play.

Thankfully, with new support cards, these beloved divine beasts are back and better than ever. One such support is Guardian Slime. This high-level monster can Special Summon itself from your hand when you take any sort of damage. By placing it in defense position, its DEF becomes the attacking monster’s ATK, allowing it to survive the fight. Additionally, if it’s sent to the Graveyard from the hand or field, you can add any Spell/Trap from the Deck to your hand that specifically lists Ra in its text.

Another great support is Egyptian God Slime, which can be easily summoned by sacrificing a level 10 aqua monster with 0 ATK, such as Metal Reflect Slime. Despite its name, it’s not a divine monster, but it boasts impressive stats of 3000 ATK/DEF, can’t be destroyed in battle, and prevents opponents from targeting other monsters you control with attacks or effects. It can also be used as three tributes, allowing it to serve as tribute for a god.

In addition, The Winged Dragon of Ra: Sphere Mode and Immortal Phoenix are great cards to use alongside Ra. Sphere Mode can be Tribute Summoned by sacrificing three monsters controlled by either player, allowing you to eliminate three of your opponent’s monsters without targeting them. Immortal Phoenix Summons itself from the Graveyard when your regular Ra is sent from the field to the Graveyard, and tributes itself at the End Phase to Summon Sphere Mode from the hand, Deck, or Graveyard.

Finally, Soul Crossing is a Quick-Play Spell Card that lets you immediately Tribute Summon a divine beast, using opposing monsters as tribute. The catch is that you can only use one non-divine beast effect until the End of the Next Turn, but this trade-off is worth it for the bonus summon that can easily clear three monsters off your opponent’s field.
